Lopez Family
"The Lopez Family" is a series about a Puerto Rican family who moved to Boston because the son Daniel had cancer in his right femur. They came to get treatment at Children's Hospital of Boston because in Puerto Rico the doctors said that they would have to amputate his leg. When I met the family Daniel was already cured. I started photographing him as the main character, but soon I began meeting the other members of the family, and the entire family became my subject.
They are living in public housing in Jamaica Plain, a neighborhood with many Latin immigrants southwest of downtown Boston. They are struggling, but together they try to move forward. The most important thing for them in life is family and to share and enjoy in a simple way every moment they have together.
